i seek to learn this language

uncouth, faux pas,

enviable disquiet search

for definition

in a romance transient, a levity,

vacuous nescient moments

rhapsodic as i strive

to learn his tongue,

diction of a polymath

gnosis in the ephemeral

aesthete erudition is poetry

to me, for suddenly i’m simple.

in another life i’d find this lack

 kafkaesque. but instead i rollick

in this lark of romantic scholarship,

an idyll of pedagogy, i feel near

a zenith—infatuation for a lexicon.
